Welcome to ConCiencia Azul the podcast.Joining forces with Speak Up for The Blue podcast, the ConCiencia Azul podcast will be COMPLETELY IN SPANISH and interviewing Spanish-speaking marine scientists, conservationists, grad students, photographers, and more from around the world.
First focusing on native Latinx scientists (we will be open to Spanish-speakers later on in the year), we'll be discussing their studies and some of the unique challenges they face (such as racism, poverty, government corruption, etc). There are people out there who are doing incredible work and that don’t get highlighted, which is unfortunate. In many cases they overcame obstacles, including racism and sexism, poverty, cultural and family expectations, and lack of mathematics background, in order to work and excel in the fields that they love. We Latinos y Latinas have the talent, and we often just lack the opportunity. This is Melissa's way of providing that opportunity to shine a light on them. |
Bienvenidos a ConCiencia Azul, el podcast.Melissa se está asociando con el podcast Speak Up For The Blue y utilizando su renombre para creer una serie de podcasts con la temática de la conservación marina y dirigido al público hispano en nuestro idioma; español.
Estaremos conversando sobre muchisimos asuntos relacionados a la conservación marina, asuntos que afectan a los países latinoamericanos en particular. Algunos de estos temas serán: que es ser una científico latino o latina, que retos afrontamos (como falta de fondos, pobreza en nuestros respectivos países, desinterés gubernamental), y además de discutir sobre noticias internacionales… como el impacto biológico de los desastres en México y Puerto Rico, y como estos desastres afectan los estudios científicos marinos en estos paises. Ella espera que las conversaciones serán fabulosa para aquellos interesados en las ciencias marinas pero no saben los recursos necesarios para ayudar a nuestro planeta. Y, ojala este podcast sera algo como educación para el público en general. |
