When I moved back to Perth from Sydney in early 2021 (before jetsetting off to Europe for some filming and research work), I noticed something right away: my internal body clock was three hours ahead of the Perth time zone and instead of waking up at my usual 8:00am time, I was suddenly wide awake at 5:00am. What was I going to do with all of this free time?! Well, reclaim some of my time, that's what! While I didn't have a car - and thus couldn't join our local 5AM club (inspired by The 5am Club book) - I was able to take the train to new gyms and exercise boutiques, shower, journal, and get ready for the day. I fell into the "morning club" by accident. Here's how you can join, too! Fake it till you make itThat's right, I faked being a "morning person" until I "actually was" one. While it sucked a little at first to wake up before the sun had, I didn't allow myself to hit the snooze button. As soon as my alarm went off, I turned it off and climbed out of my bed to make it. What helps me be motivated to wake up is when I have something fun planned, like a reformer pilates or barre class. After all, early risers don’t think about getting up—they just do it! Shut down earlySome experts say you should turn off your electronics - phone, laptop, iPad, TV, etc. - an hour before bedtime. I give myself a curfew (around 9:00-10:00pm) to put my electronics away and wind down for the day. Helps me relax and fall asleep much faster. quick tidyYup, that’s right! Before sliding under the sheets, tidy up your bedroom from any clutter or clothes strewn about - waking up to a clean bedroom (heck, a clean house) is one of the best feelings and it helps kick your day off to a great start! Here are some easy ways to organize your space. let the sun shine inWhile my blinds are good at keeping the street lights out, they let the sunlight in! While during the winter I wake up to an inky sky, during the summer I get woken up to golden rays peeking in. Yes, I still put an alarm on! Make a scheduleSit down and plan what your day (or at least morning) is gonna look like. I use my Google calendar - that is color coordinated - to set everything up! take a shot!Put away the Bacardi or Fireball... I mean a healthy shot. Waking up with a drink jam-packed with vitamins and nutrients is a great way to start the day. I'm getting a juicer this year and keen on taking immunity boosting ginger shots. In the past, I make smoothies in the morning. What are some trick and tips you use?Comments are closed.
